Having qualified as a Solicitor in 1996 Abigail has over 22 years’ experience, predominantly in the areas of employment law and civil litigation.

Abigail joined The Legal Partners in 2010, initially working alongside clients in the Lottery sector but now for a wide range of clients. She focuses on HR and employment issues, both for employers and employees, utilising her rounded experience to assist whichever side The Legal Partners are representing. She regularly acts in Employment Tribunal cases representing both Claimants and Respondents and on a wide range of areas including discrimination.

Abigail has considerable experience and regularly advises clients in all of the following common employment and HR areas:

  • Recruitment

  • Drafting of contracts and handbooks

  • Dismissals

  • Performance management

  • Disciplinaries

  • Employee disputes and dispute resolution

  • Redundancies

  • Flexible working requests

  • Social media liability

  • Managing workplace stress and absenteeism

  • GDPR & HR Data Privacy issues

  • Negotiating Settlement Agreements

She has had a central role in the development of The Legal Partners HR Network and regularly presents updates and leads sessions at these training seminars. Abigail supervises and provides support to her colleagues Philippa Mullett and Shân Veillard-Thomas in their work for The Legal Partners clients within the employment and HR area.

Abigail also undertakes commercial litigation projects for our clients and has dealt with a variety of commercial disputes, aiming always to settle the issues successfully to the clients’ satisfaction and in the most efficient way possible.

Abigail trained and qualified with a firm in West London, before moving to an in-house role in 1998 as a Regional Solicitor for the National Education Union. Abigail remains in this post on a part-time basis. This role involves advising individuals on employment matters and civil litigation cases in the education sector.

Abigail also works as a tutor at CILEx Law School is the areas of civil litigation and client care skills.

Graduating with a Law degree in 1992, Abigail initially moved to Japan to take up a teaching post with the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme, sponsored by the Japanese government. On completing her teaching role, she then returned to the UK to study at the College of Law.

I have attended two HR Network Seminars held by Legal Partners. Both have been incredibly informative and interesting, the team at Legal Partners have a great knack of breaking down complicated law and situations into very easy to understand process. Each time I have attended these sessions, I have walked away learning more than I expected too. What adds to these sessions is the friendliness of Richard, Abigail and Philippa. They never forget your name and are very enthused by anyone’s questions. I cannot wait for the next session and would highly recommend them to anyone who has even the slightest interest in the topics that each Seminar is based on
