We have an exciting local opportunity for a commercially minded Legal Assistant to join our dynamic, close knit team of commercial lawyers based in Teddington. 

We specialise in Employment and HR Law, Business law, Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution,  advising businesses of all sizes, across multiple sectors,  from local owner managed firms to SMEs, charities, as well as national and international employers.

About the role

You  will work alongside experienced and newly qualified commercial lawyers, gaining hands-on experience while building your legal knowledge, commercial awareness, negotiating skills, and professional capabilities in a supportive environment. You will be fully involved in real client work, with opportunities to make your mark and grow your legal career in these high-demand, evolving areas of law.

To thrive in this role, you should be energised by a varied legal day, direct client contact and exposure to a diverse, high-quality client base, advising on:

  • HR Law – employment contracts, settlement agreements and Employment Tribunal Claims, working with barristers, providing training seminars to our HR Director & Business clients
  • Business Law – buying and selling businesses (M&A) , raising finance, negotiating commercial contracts and business property leases and data protection
  • Litigation – resolving commercial disputes and conducting Court litigation with barristers and settling claims in the County Court

With strong support behind you, you’ll will enjoy

  •  building your client-handling and advisory skills
  •  proposing practical solutions to commercial issues
  •  using your excellent legal drafting, research and analysis skills.

About you

You will be a graduate who has passed SQE1 and is ready to progress to SQE 2 on the path to qualification.
The successful candidate will have:

  • strong academics
  • a demonstrable  interest in business and a strong, developing commercial awareness
  • a proactive, can-do attitude
  • the drive to apply law in a way that helps businesses succeed
  • excellent IT skills, confident with email, Word, Excel, and PDF tools (or able to pick up systems quickly)

You will also appreciate working locally in South West London, value a collaborative home office  environment, and enjoy building trusted relationships with clients.
